Blueair Room Air Purifiers and Replacement Filters

Blueair Room Air Purifiers and Replacement Filters
Blueair offers a quality line of room air purifiers that not only help clean your air but they look great and are quieter than many other brands.

Blueair was founded in Sweden in 1996. They quickly earned a reputation for high performance, technological innovation and quality design. In the United States, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, an independent organization, named the Blueair 501 Best of Class for its extraordinary performance in equaling or surpassing 172 other products.

Award-winning Swedish Design
The union of visually pleasing form and effective function is a hallmark of Swedish design, and Blueair is no exception. Its sleek contemporary look has earned Blueair one of the most prestigious design awards in Scandinavia, the Excellent Swedish Design award. In fact, the Blueair unit resides in a permanent exhibit at The National Museum in Stockholm. At Blueair, they design air purification systems to meet your home's aesthetic standards without sacrificing performance.

Superior Quality
Blueair is designed, engineered and built for people who expect the very best and don't want to compromise on health, design or function. The Blueair system housing is made of galvanized steel, rather than less durable plastic. The fan and blower are manufactured by EBM, a maker of telecom and medical equipment. Blueair systems offer an exceptionally long product life and carry a 10-year limited warranty (see written warranty for complete details).

Cleans Air Quietly
Sophisticated materials and precision engineering allow Blueair to clean indoor air without the noise associated with other units. On the lowest setting, the units emit no more sound than a desktop computer. To achieve exceptionally quiet operation, Blueair¹s patented HEPASilent™ filter technology traps particles two ways: with mechanical and electrostatic filters. This combination creates a filter system through which air flows freely. Most air cleaners require a powerful, noisy fan to pull air through densely packed filters. Since air passes easily through Blueair filter media, the fan doesn't have to work as hard or as loud. Even the housing is designed with quiet operation in mind, replacing sound-sonant plastic with noise-muffling steel.

Surround Air
Instead of discharging a windy stream of filtered air, the Blueair 501 diffuses air gently through an area six times greater than the average air cleaner. Operating on its lowest setting, Blueair produces virtually no noticeable draft, while still providing an exceptional air exchange rate. Blueair's SurroundAir™ system achieves peak performance without annoying drafts by drawing in dirty air from the sides and bottom, moving it through a less dense filter media, and releasing clean, filtered air from the sides and top.

Low Energy Cost
Blueair¹s phenomenally low power usage means you can run the system 24/7 without a jump in electricity consumption. In fact, it costs about the same to run as it does to power a single lightbulb: only 15 watts on low to 95 watts on high.

Environmentally Aware
Blueair products offer exceptional performance without polluting the environment. Blueair replaces standard triclosan-coated paper or glass filter fibers, which can harm the environment when released into the waste stream, with safer, nontoxic polypropylene. This revolutionary filter media is one of the least harmful plastics, producing only carbon dioxide and water as it decomposes. Because polypropylene is waterproof, Blueair's filters naturally resist contamination from bacteria, viruses and mold, without chemical additives or washes. Blueair even uses a special powder coat finish that produces no chemical outgassing.

Easy To Use And Maintain
Plug it in, select the speed setting, and forget it. Blueair works so quietly, at first you may find yourself wondering if it's turned on. Just check the bright blue power on light. Blueair filters require no weekly additives or filter washing. The grilles and powder-coated steel exterior are easy to wipe clean, and won't pick up grime and oily stains the way plastics can. When the filter needs to be replaced (every six months), just open the lid, lift out the old filters and drop the new ones in. No screws, hooks or tools and less than one minute of your time are required. Used filters are 100% recyclable, and release no toxins into landfills or the air.

Patented HEPASilent™ Filter Technology
A revolutionary combination of advanced filter media and an encapsulated ion particle charging chamber makes it possible for the Blueair air purification system to achieve better results than either mechanical or electrostatic technology alone. Blueair's nontoxic polypropylene filter contains millions of ultra- thin fibers that trap tiny particles as they pass through the pleats. One of the least harmful plastics for human health and the environment, polypropylene works without outgassing or shedding irritating microscopic fibers into the air. It eliminates bacteria, viruses and mold naturally, without chemical additives also captures more dirt than competitive systems. And as used filters are discarded and decompose, the filter media converts into harmless carbon dioxide and water.

Particles a HEPA filter alone might miss are captured with an electrostatic charge. HEPASilent™ technology moves particles through an enclosed ion chamber, which attaches a charge to the particle itself. Charged particles cling more easily to the filter media, resulting in higher filter efficiency overall.

*Standard HEPA filters measure efficiency at 0.3 microns. A typical HEPA filter removes 99.97% of particles of the 0.3 micron size. HEPASilent technology removes 99.97% of particles at 0.1 micron on it's lowest speed.

**Efficiency is measured on level 1.
